CSIRO’s “Light Metals Flagship” was introduced in 1999 with the goal to add value to Australia’s abundant titanium mineral sands reserves. The TiRO® process was developed as a continuous technology for the direct production of titanium powder using a fluidised bed reactor.
Coogee Titanium Pty Ltd was established in 2008 when Coogee and CSIRO joined forces to further develop and scale up the TiRO® process. Coogee and CSIRO are shareholders of Coogee Titanium. Coogee Titanium owns the intellectual property and has full freedom to exploit it in any form that is applicable.
